Date night

I had a great day yesterday! Started off with some coffee and waffles after sleeping in. Stayed quiet for the whole day, caught up on some reading. Then we went for dinner at Tuta Bella and shared the delicious Ciro Pizza (Neapolitan style with fancy Italian prosciutto). We headed to the Clink for Amazon’s annual post-holiday party. It’s huge! We spent most of the time watching a great show of dueling pianos, then caught a little of the Vampire Weekend concert before heading home. The party was super crowded and we never did meet up with any of Yancy’s coworkers, but we had a great time just hanging out together. And I’m glad that at nearly 38 weeks preggo, I was still able to enjoy myself.

We’ve now officially got the car packed & ready to go to the hospital (clothes, baby seat, diaper bag, toiletries…). The big day could happen any time now! Fingers crossed! 😉

Day by day

Nothing new or exciting to report. I still have 17 days until due date. I’m trying to be patient, but I have little to do since I’m no longer working… I’m getting bored. I never was a big fan of waiting. 😛

So for now, I’m just taking it easy. Trying to keep up with housework and a few small projects. I’ll check back in when I have something more interesting to write.

37 weeks

Today marks 37 weeks of pregnancy… and I’m starting to be miserable. It’s funny that during the first 6 months I had very few systems and didn’t even show the pregnancy. In the last month? BAM! Spent the 7th month being sick and tired. And now add sore! I’m soooo ready to be done with this! 😛

For all my whining, I’m still doing really well. Getting excited and feeling prepared as I’m going to be. My blood pressure is low and I don’t have swelling and back/nerve pain like I’ve heard a lot of other women suffer. I’ve only gained 10-15 pounds through the entire pregnancy as well. My main complaint is that my hips feel like they’re going to break apart under the baby’s weight!

Soon enough, we’ll be welcoming our son into our home, and these little/big aches will be forgotten. Then I’ll have to find something else to complain about!   😛

Resolutions?

I went through a stage in life where I would make “New Year’s Resolutions” every January (I think this was my late teens, early 20’s). Like most people, I dropped most of mine. But those were usually the dramatic and unrealistic ones. Lately I tend to set new “intentions” for myself each year around my birthday. And it’s been kind of fun looking back through journals and realizing how many of those intentions became reality… things like owning a motorcycle and doing a full marathon. When we frequently and realistically ponder the things we really want and what would make us happy, it’s easier to make those things happen. This year I don’t have any lofty goals, but I do intend to do a few things. First, I’m gonna do the best I can at this adventure called parenting. But this year I also want to focus on my own identity, and not loose it to motherhood. I want to pay attention to my health and fitness (one concrete goal is to do another half marathon this year). I want to spend time meeting new friends and holding tight to old ones. I want to find ways to be creative and express myself (one good way is through writing). Sooooo, I guess I’ll start blogging again. It’ll probably be mostly about raising my son, but I’ll try to incorporate some of my more personal growth journeys too.

Closing this blog

I’m thinking of shutting this blog down. I find very little motivation to keep it up over the last few months. Most people that read this can also follow me on FB. And the others should have my phone number. It’s been fun to keep a photo journal of my life over the last few years, but I honestly did that mostly for the amusement of my grandmother, and since she’s no longer with us, it’s hard to continue.

Pics of the new home

Dinner with friends was great. We got the bedroom curtain done. And the Sounders beat Chicago Crew. Awesomest of nights!  🙂  Here are the promised pics of the new house. Some of these aren’t great shots… but I do what I can with the ‘ol iPhone. And sorry for the total randomness… (also just realized that I haven’t taken any pics of the office, laundry room, or back yard)

Pics coming soon

Ok, I think it’s safe to say that we’re fully moved in! Yancy has already done a few little projects around the house (like fixing the shower faucet, the toilet, pruning the palm trees, and clearing the blocked rain gutters). And tonight I’ll be doing my last personal project of making curtains for two of the windows (with the help of a friend). I’ll be taking pictures and posting tonight or tomorrow.  🙂

I forgot to mention that I got to hear my baby’s heart beat out loud for the first time this week. At previous appointments the doc couldn’t find it with the doppler, but was still able to see it with ultrasound. This time I got to hear the whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! The baby has a nice strong heart beat and seems to be pretty active at times. I’m getting more and more excited about the 20 week ultrasound! :O)

I better get off the computer now since I’ve got a little more house cleaning to do. We’re having our first dinner guests tonight. It’s gonna be stewed pork chops, rice, and salad. Then curtain making!
